Hidden Mothers is an initiative by The Rhythm Method string quartet to research, record, and perform the music of historical women composers. While many of the composers on this program achieved an impressive degree of public recognition in their lifetime, their music has often been belittled or ignored by music historians, music programmers, and musicians. On October 4, The Rhythm Method will present works by 19th and 20th Century composers: Florence Price, Amanda Maier-Röntgen, Amy Beach, and Elizabeth Maconchy and close the night with a piece based on a Suffragette Anthem by quartet member, Leah Asher.
Hidden Mothers is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC)
